田天 tiántiān (field/sky) is a full-length dance work featuring two generations of Chinese Canadian dancers who move in unusual synchronized harmony. A collaboration between performers Andrea Nann and Jia Yi (Judy) Luo and director Sarah Chase, 田天 tiántiān layers haiku-like duet and solo movements with stories of separation and reunion. The work weaves an emotional bridge between Judy and Andrea. A collaboration between:
Andrea Nann (she/her/they) Andrea is a dance artist, deep listener, founding artist of Dreamwalker Dance Company, and founder/co-creator of Conscious Bodies, an embodied community practice. She danced with Danny Grossman Dance Company for 15 years and has been recognized for contributions to the performing arts sector and work in community actioning. Andrea’s work celebrates possibility, imagination, and belonging, exploring how embodiment can shift attitudes, deepen empathy, and connect us through shared wonder and peaceful coexistence.
Jia Yi (Judy) Luo is a Chinese-Canadian dance artist based out of Toronto, and in her trusty blue suitcase. Movement and dumpling parties are her chosen mediums to bridge communities. She thanks Cynthia Fisher (Toronto), Anne Plamondon (Montreal), Liam Francis (UK), Nova Bhattacharya (Toronto), and Dreamwalker Dance Company (Toronto/Vancouver) for creating opportunities for her to make and share art. Judy is a former member of touring company Rambert 2 (London, UK).
